🔬 Pre-Submission Peer Review
Pre-submission peer review is a rigorous, confidential evaluation of your manuscript by verified PhD-level academics — conducted before you submit to a journal. It mirrors the real journal review process, providing structured feedback on research originality, methodology, statistical analysis, literature coverage, language quality, and logical coherence. The goal is to identify and resolve every significant weakness before journal editors and reviewers encounter it.
Any researcher submitting to a competitive journal benefits significantly. It is particularly valuable for: researchers targeting Q1 journals (Nature, Lancet, Cell, NEJM, top Scopus/WoS journals); first-time submitters without access to strong institutional mentorship; non-native English academic authors; researchers in institutions with limited peer review culture; and anyone who has previously experienced unexplained rejections.
Journal peer review results in an irreversible accept/reject decision. MeritPeer's review happens before submission — giving you the time, feedback, and expert guidance to revise and resubmit a substantially stronger manuscript. Our reviewers use the same structured evaluation framework as Q1 journal editors, so the feedback you receive is directly translatable into acceptance-ready revisions.
No ethical service can guarantee journal acceptance — editorial decisions involve factors outside any reviewer's control. What MeritPeer guarantees is a rigorous PhD-level expert review that makes your manuscript measurably stronger. Our 97.4% client satisfaction rate and documented publication outcomes among our clients reflect the consistent quality of the feedback we provide.
Yes. MeritPeer reviews all forms of academic manuscripts: journal articles, book chapters, systematic reviews, meta-analyses, PhD dissertation chapters, grant proposals, and conference papers. When submitting, simply specify the type and intended destination so your reviewer can calibrate feedback appropriately.
🎓 Reviewers & Quality
Every reviewer in the MeritPeer network holds a verified PhD, MD, DPhil, or equivalent terminal degree from an accredited institution, with a minimum of five peer-reviewed publications indexed in Scopus, Web of Science, or PubMed within the past five years. Many are current or former journal editors, editorial board members, and active research scientists at leading institutions across 60+ countries.
Our AI-powered matching system analyses your manuscript's subject keywords, methodology type, study design, and discipline against reviewers' verified publication histories. The match is then confirmed by our QA team before assignment. We never assign a reviewer from a competing institution, a country you've indicated as a conflict, or a researcher whose recent work overlaps with yours in a way that could create bias.
Yes — a legally binding NDA is signed per manuscript, before your file is shared with any reviewer. This is not a blanket platform-wide agreement but a specific NDA tied to your submission. Reviewers also complete a conflict-of-interest declaration for every assignment. Breach of NDA subjects reviewers to immediate removal and legal liability.
MeritPeer offers a free re-review guarantee within seven days of delivery. If you identify substantive concerns about the quality, depth, or relevance of your review, contact review@meritpeer.com with your order reference and specific observations. We will re-assign your manuscript to a senior reviewer and deliver a revised report within five business days at no additional charge — unconditionally.
Every completed review is evaluated by our QA editorial panel on ten dimensions: subject relevance, depth of critique, specificity of feedback, actionability of recommendations, report completeness, language clarity, turnaround adherence, ethical compliance, and two additional peer-quality indicators. Reviewers scoring below 4.2 out of 5.0 are suspended from the network immediately, pending review.
⚡ Turnaround & Process
MeritPeer offers three standard turnaround tiers: Express (48 hours), Standard (5 business days), and Normal (10 business days). For 3-Reviewer Expert Panel reviews, express turnaround is 72 hours. Turnaround begins from confirmed order and reviewer assignment — typically within 2–4 hours of submission. If we miss the agreed turnaround, you are entitled to a full refund or free expedited re-delivery.
We accept Microsoft Word (.docx, .doc), PDF, LaTeX (.tex), and plain text (.txt) files up to 20 MB. All uploads are encrypted in transit via 256-bit SSL. If your manuscript contains supplementary materials, data files, or figures, please include these in a single compressed archive or note their availability in your submission message.
Every MeritPeer review report contains: (1) a structured evaluation summary using the same framework as Q1 journal review forms; (2) a numbered list of major concerns requiring revision and minor concerns for improvement; (3) section-by-section detailed commentary covering Title, Abstract, Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion, and References; (4) an overall editorial recommendation mirroring journal decisions; and (5) a priority revision checklist ranked by impact on acceptance probability.
Yes. During submission you can indicate specific focus areas — for example: 'Please pay particular attention to the statistical methodology in Section 3' or 'This targets the British Journal of Surgery — please evaluate against CONSORT criteria.' Your reviewer will calibrate the feedback accordingly while still providing a complete evaluation of the full manuscript.
